A terminology I have been hearing more & more in the recent past. True it has come to that. If America sneezes - the rest of the world follows suit, if America says butter is bad for health , rest of the world stops eating it , the list goes on & on.
Now, it is election time in the US , along with an economic crisis. I am surprised at how much time and resources rest of the world is putting into following the campaign. shouldn't the govt.owned media be cutting costs and not sending their reporters globe trotting?
It makes me wonder whether there is something wrong with my thinking and simple economics or theirs.
I must be right since I have not landed in massive debts!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Unbelievable ! experts with degrees from institutions like Harvard, Yale etc. could not avert the economic crisis.
Wonder when and how all this will end. Everything is either controlled by US of A or out of control.
In times like this I like to take solace in the Hindu philosophy of "destiny". Therfore if the human race is destined to self destruct , it will, if it is not , then it won't.
Simple.
Let me end on a philosophical not.

Bloghead
My head is overflowing with ideas as I sit down to write. But alas , by the time the computer is booted and the signing in is done [usually 2 attempts with the password] all the ideas disappear like the fizz from a fizzy drink.
Anyway today I am determined.
Just heard the Palin - Biden debate, looks like the Americans will vote into power the warmongers again. US of A is really a nation of aliens, they have no clue as to what is happening on Earth and why.
On the subject of nations. I have frequently heard NZ being referred to as "developed country" ,
"civilised country" and many other flattering things.
But how can it be any of the above what with having one of the highest child abuse rates in the world?
Or doesn't the state of children count in the bigger political & economic picture.
The other thing that annoys me with the so called developed countries is their constant whining about human rights violation in India, China, Africa, etc.
Stop complaining and just for starts stop buying made in China stuff.
On a lighter note the weekend has started and the weather promises to be good. So stuff the Americans and the lot and enjoy the weekend!

GA
I am back after surgery on my right shoulder.
the whole experience to me is humiliating, i know surgery is the last resort but it can really shatter you.
you are dependent on other people for your smallest needs.
one is expected to behave accordingly, now that, is difficult - the limb is immobilised not your brain.
the good part is -GA- General Anaesthesia - amazing would be an understatement . It knocks you out.
The medical fraternity should really work on 6 monthly clinics where overstressed homo-sapiens can get de-stressed by knocking out the senses.
have to stop as keyboard & monitor are not recommended post shoulder surgery.

"Surprise"
Our family has always been big on giving surprises , mostly pleasant.
But giving a pleasant surprise to someone is not easy . It is no less than organising an event.
First & foremost you should have the talent for keeping secrets.
It requires first and foremost affection & feeling toward the person. You have to know the person very well , their tastes, preferences etc.
Depending on the scale of the operation there has to be meticulous planning.
Oh there is lots to it .
Of course it was only this time when I was thinking hard about what to give my daughter on her birthday that I realised how complicated the whole process was.
We have had repeated success , whether it be a birthday, new year, doing well in exams, just about anything.
I would never "simply" give a toy to my kids, there was always an element of surprise & drama involved.
The immense joy one can give is so satisfying.
We all know that there will be gifts given on our birthday but its fun trying to figure out how its going to be given.
People who want a break from their mundane lives should try this!

Disillusioned
Disillusioned Is "disappointed at finding out that reality does not match ones ideals".
My daughter is an example of what many parents envy us for. She is very intelligent, smart, etc., etc.,
I am complimented on bringing her up well and teaching her all the right "VALUES".
But..................... earlier in the year she told me that she was absolutely, totally disillusioned with her experiences while pursuing her PhD and has given up the idea of being a Professor.
She was told that she is not "aggressive" and "pushy" enough to be one.
Aggressive??????
Aggression refers to behaviour that is intended to cause harm or pain & pushy is offensively assertive or ambitious.
Have I been out of touch with the "progress" in the world. Has the book of good values, manners and decency been re-written [ I obviously missed it] ?
I am from the post "women's lib", "hippie" era and believed that people couldn't get any worse then that.
Wrong - the druggies of the sixties were angels compared to humans of today.
The misbehaved , incompetent, imbecile next door gets a post grad degree from one of the top 10 universities in the world and has a fantastic job.
The mediocre with the gift of the gab is succeessful beyond imagination.
The unscrupulous, uncouth, dishonest are ruling nations.
These are few examples .
Can someone please enlighten Rip van Winkle [me] on whats happening ?

Creating a Blog
Vow. That was exhausting.
I have created a blog . For my techno unsavvy brain - it is a great achievement. With help from Google, family and the internet my blogspot.com career is launched.
Gosh I feel elated.
It will need some getting use to , typing my thoughts instead of penning them.
